Daewoo Shipbuilding & Rotterdam

An alliance to take on the future

by Port News Editorial Staff

A strategic cooperation to develop innovative projects in the technological innovation field applied to ships and ports over a period of three years.

The agreement was signed yesterday by the shipbuilding giant DAEWOO Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and the port of Rotterdam, recognized as one of the most automated and digitized ports of call on the planet.

Thanks to this collaboration, the two parties will work to improve the ship-quay interface, implementing communication standards and speeding up port planning processes. But the real goal is to move forward in the development of autonomous ships.

“With this cooperation, we intend to develop new technologies that will enable ports and ships to converse almost automatically,” said DSME.

The South Korean shipbuilding company has also signed a cooperation agreement with Busan Port Authority.
