by Port News Editorial Staff

A containership operated by Maersk fell victim to bad weather in the North Pacific Ocean.

The 4500 TEU Dyros, owned by Costamare and en route from Yantian to Seattle, was hit by heavy seas on Monday while south of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula. The adverse weather conditions reportedly led to the loss of an unspecified number of containers.

The crew is safe but the extent of the damage cannot be calculated  until the ship arrives in Seattle on March 27th.
