Hapag Lloyd revises MGX service

by Port News Editorial Staff

Due to the stagnation in maritime transport demand following the crisis triggered by the Coronavirus, the shipping company Hapag Lloyd has reduced the frequency of its Mediterranean Gulf Express (MGX) service, connecting the ports of Barcelona, Livorno, Genoa, Valencia and Algeciras with Cartagena (Columbia), the Caribbean and the USA (Houston and New Orleans).

The connection will no longer be weekly but fortnightly. Westbound, vessels will depart from Livorno on May 27th, June 10th, June 24th and July 8th, while departures from Genoa are scheduled on May 29th, June 12th, June 26th and July 10th.

The Cartagena call has been cancelled from this service. Cartagena, will, however, continue to be on the Mediterranean-Pacific service, with the rotation: Livorno May 22nd, Genoa May 24th, Fos May 25th, Barcelona May 28th and Valencia May 30th.
