by Port News Editorial Staff

The Italian port sector  came to  Fort Lauderdale to take part in the world’s largest cruise fair. All 16 Port Network Authorities  were present in the Cruiseitaly Pavilion promoted by the Italian port association, Assoporti.

“After a long period of uncertainty and unforeseen events, Italy’s ports are together to take part  in the meetings and events organized by Seatrade, combining official conference moments with networking ones between all the segment’s stakeholders,” commented Assoporti President Rodolfo Giampieri from Rome.

“Cruise traffic in Italy is showing a steady recovery, as I have said  on a number of occasions. The cruise sector is growing thanks to the efficient services our ports provide but, of course, also because of the strong appeal our country has for tourists, with its  cultural heritage and landscapes that are unique worldover. We believe, in fact, that destination Italy should also be enhanced with these forms of participation,” Mr. Giampieri concluded.

Italian Vice Consul in Miami, Eva Alvino  performed the ‘ribbon-cutting’ ceremony, kicking off the morning events by illustrating  the importance of the Made In Italy brand and emphasizing  the excellent work that Italian ports do for the country.

A full programme of institutional meetings and initiatives  is planned for each port during the event to present the Italian system to the thousands of visitors, as well as a series of business meetings for promoting their local areas.
