Cruise passengers could reach 12.09 million in Italian ports, a figure that would mark a growth of 8.8% over the previous year.
The forecast is by the consultancy firm Risposte Turismo,which is about to present an updated report on cruise traffic data in Cagliari on the 18th October, at the annual Italian Cruise Day forum.
According to Risposte Turismo, Italian ports could close 2019 with a total of 4834 cruise ships (+3.2% on 2018). The report underlines how Italy can confirm itself as the top nation in the Mediterranean in terms of the number of cruise passengers, representing about 40% of the total traffic in the area.
This year there will be nine Italian cruise ports in the top 20 Mediterranean ones. Livorno port is in 11th place with 838 thousand passengers handled and 384 vessel calls, up on 2018 with +6.7% passengers handled and 8.5% more berths.
