New measures

Italy’s industry comes to a standstill

by Port News Editorial Staff

The Decree signed by the Prime Minister yesterday introduces further measures to curtail and manage the COVID-19 epidemiological emergency, by ordering the suspension of all industrial manufacturing and commercial activities that are considered non-essential.

The list of non-suspended activities includes sea, land and air transportation, referring, in particular, to the handling of goods. Ports, airports and freight villages therefore remain open.

Meanwhile, Amazon has also announced that it will stop shipping non-essential products to consumers in Italy and France. The choice of the marketplace founded by Jeff Bezos is dictated by the need to preserve its resources (human and physical) in the regions hard hit by the Coronavirus epidemic.
