by Port News Editorial Staff

AP Moller – Maersk has reached an agreement with Bridgepoint Development Capital to purchase Swedish KGH Customs Services.

The operation is worth $279 million and will provide the Maersk shipping group with a solid platform for developing customs services in Europe. The Dutch company manages on average 1.98 million digital authorizations each year and is present in 12 European countries with over 770 employees.

“With KGH, we will not only be able to strengthen our capabilities within customs services and related consultancy, but also reach more of our customers in Europe through solutions that will enhance our ability to meet our customers´ end-to-end supply chain needs,” says Vincent Clerc, CEO of Ocean & Logistics at AP Moller – Maersk.

“We achieve all this in one go instead of having to build our expertise through multiple acquisitions”
