Monegro sentenced to 20 years in jail

Michael Dequito Monegro, the Filipino seafarer who was arrested by the Los Angeles Federal Police on 20th September 2020 for stabbing and killing a shipmate on board the MSC Ravenna while it was en route to the US port, has been  sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The attacker had used two knives to stab the victim repeatedly. Immediately after the murder, the sailor was placed in custody by the ship’s captain and later handed over to the police when the container ship arrived in Los Angeles.
