by Port News Editorial Staff

Test successful. NYK ‘s PCT carrier the Iris Leader, sailed independently from 14th to 17th September and from 19th to 20th September, calling at the Chinese port of Xinsha and the Japanese ports of Nagoya and Yokohama.

The Japanese shipping company considers it a personal success, confirming its leadership in the field of this type of technology.

During the test, the performance of the Maritime Autonomous Ship was constantly monitored. The navigation system collected information on the environmental conditions around the vessel, calculating the risk of collisions and automatically determining routes and speeds.
