The Port Network Authority (PNA) has equipped the port of Piombino with three special recovery baskets, essential tools to facilitate and secure rescue operations inside ships’ holds in the event of accidents.
They will consent rapid intervention in the case of accidents on board, significantly reducing the recovery time of any injured personnel in the hold. The baskets will be positioned in three different port operational areas so that they cover a wider area as possible where this scenario could occur.
This initiative had been agreed on at Piombino Port’s Safety & Hygiene Committee, following the express request of the site’s worker safety representative, Riccardo Gianfaldoni, and is one of a series of measures that the PNA is implementing throughout the port area.
