20% of French film giant Pathé bought by Merit France

Saadé expanding its media empire

Rodolphe Saadé’s media empire is continuing to grow. Just a few hours ago, news broke of the agreement to sell 20% of the French film giant Pathé to Merit France, the current CMA CGM CEO’s  family holding company.

“Welcoming the Saadé family as a partner will accelerate the  growth and modernization of Pathé,” said Jerome Seydoux, owner of Pathé.

“We are committed to contributing to the development of the sector and promoting French film culture around the world,” said Saadé, describing Pathé as “a flagship brand for film lovers, both in France and worldwide.”

Pathé is a leading French film production and distribution company, owning a number of  cinema chains and television networks throughout Europe.

Saadé also owns 10% of M6, France’s second largest commercial network, It has acquired ownership of the daily newspaper La Provence, as well as the news channel BFM, the radio station RMC and Brut, a digital media publisher.
