by Port News Editorial Staff

At the end of May, the top eight Chinese ports almost completely recovered (at 98%) their total container volumes in the same period of 2019. This was announced by the China Port & Harbour Association, which also pointed out that in the last days of the month, container traffic recorded an increase of 20% compared to mid-May.

In the period under investigation, the total traffic handled by the eight most important Chinese ports altogether was up by 0.9% compared to the same period last year. Likewise, the crude oil sector has recorded a 15% increase in comparison with 2019, while the shipment of iron ore has risen by 6%.
