The port of Jebel Ali gets smart

by Port News Editorial Staff

The UAE port of Jebel Ali, southeast of Dubai, is about to enter the new frontier of technological innovation. The port operator Dp World and the company DG World have in fact announced that they have signed an agreement to equip the port with a new fleet of self-guided vehicles.

Jebel Ali port has long been a natural test bed for new technologies in the fields of automation, Internet of Things and virtual reality: the first intelligent container truck was introduced in 2016.

Now a further step forward is taken: DGWorld will integrate and implement the autonomous technology of the Internal Terminal Vehicles currently used by the port to carry out port operations. The aim is to make the port of call even more efficient.
