Livorno PNA, MIT appoints Gariglio as commissioner

by Port News Editorial Staff

Davide Gariglio has been appointed special commissioner of the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority.

The provision appointing the commissioner, notified a few hours ago  by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport with Ministerial Decree no. 139 of 11th June 2025, will allow the new leading figure at Palazzo Rosciano to get  acquainted with the port.

The appointment as Commissioner, Minister Salvini specifies in the decree, is a necessary act, aimed at ensuring the Network ports are fully operational while waiting for the nomination process of all the Port Network Authority presidents to be completed and the approval from the presidents of the respective Regional Administrations.

Born in Turin in 1967, with a degree in law, former member of the Transport Commission in the Chamber of Deputies during the 18th legislature, former president of Piedmont Regional Council and former CEO of Gruppo Torinese Trasporti, Gariglio will replace Luciano Guerrieri, who had resigned the previous week, on  June 14th.

The new commissioner said he was ready to do his part  in making the Livorno – Piombino – Portoferraio – Rio Marina – Cavo and Capraia port even more competitive. “I thank Minister Matteo Salvini for the confidence he has shown in me. Next week I will go to Livorno and Piombino to meet the organization and present myself to the institutions,” he said.

“As I have already had the opportunity to say during my audition before the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies in the context of my nomination as President, I will build on the excellent results achieved by the previous administration both in terms of the modernization of the current infrastructure and in terms of the efficiency of the services provided for the port community in terms of technological innovation, security and environmental sustainability,” he added.

I have two objectives: to promote a strong team spirit within the administration and to strengthen the national and international connections of the ports under the Authority’s jurisdiction promoting the growth of  the entire local regional area. Cooperation with the institutions and the entire port cluster will be one of the priorities of my term of office.”
