Stake in two Hutchinson terminals

Cosco invests in Laem Chabang port

by Port News Editorial Staff

COSCO Shipping Ports has finalized its acquisition of a stake in two of the largest terminals at the port of Laem Chabang, Thailand: Thai Laem Chabang Terminal and Hutchison Laem Chabang Terminal.

The Hutchinson Group has the majority share in both terminals.  COSCO has acquired a 12.5% stake in Thai Laem Chabang Terminal and a 30% one in Hutchison Laem Chabang Terminal.

The port of Laem Chabang ranks 20th in Lloyd’s List’s classification of the world’s top 100 container ports. In 2024, it handled 9.6 million TEUs, 7.7% more than the previous year.

The operation, first announced last year but completed last month, is another milestone in Cosco Shipping Ports’ ongoing expansion in Southeast Asia.
