25-year concession for managing bulk & general cargo operations

Ad Ports to expand in Karachi

by Port News Editorial Staff

The Emirati port group AD Ports is to manage Pakistan’s Karachi Port’s East Wharf bulk traffic for twenty-five years.

The concession agreement with the Karachi Port Trust was signed by the Karachi Gateway Terminal Multifunction, a terminal company led by Ad ports together with the Emirates-based Kaheel Terminals. Under the agreement, KGTM will spend $175 million to develop, operate and manage berths 11 to 17 on the East Wharf.

With the signing of the concession deed, KGMT practically controls the entire East Wharf, having previously acquired the container terminal located on quays 6-9 of the Pakistani port in June 2023 for a 50-year term.
