CMA CGM is to register ten new containerships under the French flag. The group made the announcement, highlighting its desire to provide greater support to the maritime sector and the national economy of its country of origin.
The shipping company’s decision is not only a patriotic gesture but also an administrative act that will enable it to recruit at least 135 French seafarers.
These 24,212 TEU ships are all dual-fuel and are among the largest in the world today. They will enter service in 2026, operating on the Asia-Northern Europe route with regular calls in Le Havre and Dunkirk.
Each new ship will bear the name of a French or European monument, including Notre Dame, Panthéon, Orsay, Versailles and Pont Neuf, symbolizing national pride and maritime tradition.
