1.5bn deal for Altice Media announced

CMA CGM invests in French media

Last Friday, CMA CGM announced a EUR 1.55 billion deal to acquire Altice Media, France’s third largest media-television group, consisting of five national and ten local television channels, three radio stations, and twenty digital applications.

Altice Media has 1,700 employees, including 900 journalists, who annually produce six thousand hours of documentaries and 35 thousand podcasts per year. The company has a turnover of €362 million, with an Ebidta of €112 million.

The Marseille-based shipping company is already present in the publishing sector. It owns the La Provence and Corse Matin newspapers which it bought in 2022. It has a minority stake in the television channel M6.  In May 2023 it acquired one of France’s leading business newspapers, La Tribune
