Cosco Shipping & Hutchison Ports’ joint investment

Egypt, Sokhna to get a new terminal

The terminal group Cosco Shipping is to cooperate with Hutchison Ports in the construction and management of a new container terminal in the Egyptian port of Sokhna.

The 30-year concession contract envisages a total investment of 375 million dollars. In the first phase, a 1200 linear metre quay  and areas totalling 720 thousand square metres will be built. In the second phase, the quay will be extended to 1,400 linear metres while the yards will total 840 thousand square metres..

Once  fully operational, the new facility will be able to handle up to 1.7 million TEUs.
