Today WiseTech Global (ASX:WTC), a leading developer of logistics software and supply chain technology solutions, announced a new partnership with Hapag Lloyd on real-time container tracking.
Hapag-Lloyd’s container fleet will be equipped with IoT devices transmitting direct updates on the positioning of their containers, publishing them on WiseTech platforms dedicated to logistics, global trade and the supply chain sector.
This pilot project specifically tests the ability to acquire and process millions of data points daily, applying advanced algorithms to transform IoT data into milestones and useful products to guide decision-making processes.
WiseTech will then be able to distribute position and location data to Hapag-Lloyd customers through various channels, such as CargoWise Cargo Tracker and Container Automation solutions.
The collaboration aims to provide highly accurate, real-time insights into container positioning, transit conditions and arrival forecasts. Hapag-Lloyd customers will not only be able to see where a container is located, but also detect anomalies such as deviations or delays that could affect arrival at the next critical delivery point, offering unprecedented accuracy for data-driven planning
Zubin Appoo, CEO of WiseTech Global said that the shipping industry has long relied on often inaccurate updates. He stressed that their collaboration with Hapag-Lloyd “harnesses data at significant scale to turn it into intelligence that customers can act on, to reduce uncertainty, improve efficiency, and make smarter decisions.”
