The Houthis are back threatening shipping in the Red Sea again. Yesterday, Yemeni rebels announced that they intend to target all ships belonging to companies that do business with Israeli ports, regardless of flag, ownership or destination.
The warning was issued in a televised statement by the group’s military spokesman.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces call on all countries to pressure the enemy to halt its aggression and lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip,” their spokesman said, calling the attacks a “religious, moral and humanitarian responsibility.”
Houthi rebels launched their first campaign of the year against merchant shipping earlier this month, sinking two bulkers, killing at least four seafarers, injuring others and kidnapping crew members.
