Awareness campaign to combat violence against women

No voice goes unheard in the port

by Port News Editorial Staff

On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority is launching an awareness campaign promoted by the Joint Committee for Equal Opportunity (Comitato Unico di Garanzia (CUG)), with a simple. powerful message: ‘No voice goes unheard in the port.’ (“In porto nessuna voce resta sola”)

The heart of the initiative is a red poster, displayed in the Port Network Authority (PNA) offices and in the port access areas, with a QR code link to a video with men and women from the PNA, technicians, administrative and operational personnel, lending their voices to repeat together the slogan chosen by the CUG.

A symbolic, participatory gesture that aims to remind us that violence – whether physical, psychological or economic – is never a private matter, and that silence leads to victims becoming increasingly isolated.

“We chose a phrase that reflects our identity as a port community,” said CUG president Antonella Querci. “A port is a place for berthing, shelter and cooperation.” Saying that no voice goes unheard means making a collective commitment: to listen, support and not to turn the other way when someone is being subjected to violence. It is a responsibility that concerns us all, with no exceptions.”

The President of the North Tyrrhenian PNA, Davide Gariglio, also stressed  the importance of the initiative. “The port,” he said, “is a community of women and men who work together every day, often in complex conditions.” Mr. Gariglio pointed out that safeguarding people’s dignity and safety cannot be an abstract principle but must become a tangible commitment. “The Port Network Authority’s campaign translates this commitment into a simple, shared, deeply human gesture. I would like to thank the CUG and all my colleagues who took part: this is how we build a fairer, stronger working environment for everyone,” he concluded.

The campaign stands out for its ‘homemade’ but authentic approach: no professional production, no glossy communication, but a decision to focus on the people who live and work every day in the North Tyrrhenian Network ports.

A direct way of saying that preventing violence means being present, listening and the ability to network.

“The North Tyrrhenian PNA confirms its commitment to creating a respectful, inclusive, socially conscious working environment, in which people’s well-being is recognized as an integral part of safety and quality in port work,” CUG president Antonella Querci concludes.
