by Port News Editorial Staff

On Friday 19th May, starting at 8.30 a.m., the second initiative dedicated to on-site worker safety representatives in Italian ports will be held at Livorno’s Old Fortress in the Sala Ferretti conference hall. On-site worker safety representatives are key figures in the port industry, as links between employers, institutions and worker safety representatives on issues regarding safeguarding port work safety and hygiene.

The conference has been organized by Livorno Port’s on-site worker safety representatives with the support of the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority. It is designed to promote port work safety in an increasingly incisive way.

After the opening institutional greetings, the Deputy Minister for Infrastructure & Transport, Edoardo Rixi, is scheduled to speak. This will be followed by a round table discussion. Participants will include Port Network Authority’s Managing Director, Matteo Paroli, Vice President of the National Bilateral Port Sector Authority, Luigi Robba, President of the Eastern Ligurian Port Network Authority, Mario Sommariva, Paolo Ferrandino, Secretary General at Fise Uniport (representing Italian port companies), , the President of Trieste Port Employment Agency, Franco Mariani,  President of Assoporti (the Italian Port Association), Rodolfo Giampieri, the General Director of Assiterminal (the Italian port terminal association),  Alessandro Ferrari, and representatives from the trade union sector.

Two specific focuses, one on port security, training and promotion and the other on  safety & the Ports Safety Memorandum will round up the morning.
