A big party celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Port Center, the modern, high-tech facility in the Old Fortress’ Palazzina del Capitano building dedicated to the port, its history, its professions, and its traffic.
Next Thursday, November 11th, the Ferretti conference hall in the monument symbolizing Livorno’s history will be the setting for a unique event organized by the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority in collaboration with Villes et Ports (AIVP), the international organization based in Le Havre, France, specializing in the promotion and enhancement of port ecosystems in maritime cities.
The aim of the initiative is to highlight ten years of continuous commitment to disseminating port culture, strengthening the participation of the urban-port community and pursuing a port – city integration strategy. However, it will not only be a moment of well-deserved, intentional celebration. The occasion will also be used to present the current Livorno Port Center upgrade project to authorities and the general public. Likewise, we will also witness the presentation of the new Piombino Port Centre project and developments in the strategy for integrating ports, cities and local areas, which led to the ‘Miglio Blu di Livorno’ project and partnership with the city’s Vespucci Technical Institute in their PNRR (National Recovery & Resilience Plan) project: ‘Porto 4.0: Campus Formativo Integrato per la Logistica del Futuro.’
All former presidents and managing directors who have led Livorno and Piombino Port Authorities (which later became the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority) over the years, have been invited to attend the event. Leading representatives from local administrations will also be present to deliver their institutional greetings.
Prefect Giancarlo Dionisi, the President of Tuscany Regional Admininistration, Eugenio Giani, Livorno’s Mayor Luca Salvetti, and the President of Port Network Authority Davide Gariglio are expected to attend. The head of Tuscany Maritime Directorate’s technical-administrative department, Commander Armando Ruffini, and the Director of Villes et Ports, Bruno Delsalle will also be present.
During the afternoon, under the careful coordination of the moderator, Assoporti’s communication manager, Tiziana Murgia, there will be a series of important speeches. Speakers will include the director of AIVP’s Agenda 2030, J. M. Pagés Sanchez, the director of the Port Centre in Le Havre, Greta Marini, the head of promotion and training at the Port Network Authority, Claudio Capuano, Andrea Razza and Chiara Gesualdo from the National School of Cultural Heritage, and Francesca Barone Marzocchi from the Vespucci-Colombo Institute.
The event will also give the Port Network Authority and the Villes et Ports Association the opportunity to sign the new Port Centre Mission Charter, which defines a framework of identified and shared missions on the basis of which each Port Center develops its own programme of activities in line with each port city’s history and socio-economic scenario.
The day will come to a close with the illumination of the Old Fortress for the Christmas festivities.
