New air cargo transport expansion

MSC gets a majority stake in AlisCargo

by Port News Editorial Staff

MSC announced today that it has purchased a majority stake in AlisCargo Airlines, a Milan-based air cargo company set up in 2021, that had suspended operations earlier this year.

For Aponte’s group, the transaction is a first step towards MSC acquiring  100% of AlisCargo Airlines. The takeover is planned for early next year, when AlisCargo Airlines will be able to become fully operational again with the delivery of a Boeing 777F.

In a statement, MSC said the deal represents a new step towards the further development of MSC Air Cargo’s operations by setting up  a European gateway and key hub for MSC air cargo solutions. In addition, the acquisition complements MSC Air Cargo’s goal of expanding its current trade route network with improved coverage and greater flexibility.

Most of the sellers are represented by the Leali Group, led by Domenico Alcide Leali, which, after the success it had with Air Dolomiti, launched AlisCargo Airlines in 2019.
