According to Alphaliner, MSC now controls almost half of the capacity deployed on the shipping routes linking Northern Europe with the Mediterranean. It points out that the Italian-Swiss carrier’s fleet capacity has exceeded 360,000 TEUs.
This is the highest market share a shipping company has ever achieved on this route: 45.5% of total capacity.
Alphaliner also highlighted that a number of operators offer regular liner services on this route. The seven leading carriers (MSC, CMA CGM, Maersk, Cosco, ONE, ZIM, and Hapag Lloyd) together account for 97.3% of the total market share.
