MSC has signed an agreement to operate an inland terminal in Bangladesh.
MSC subsidiary Medlog has signed a 22-year concession agreement to operate Pangaon Inland Container Terminal (PICT) located along the Buriganga River near the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka.
Medlog plans to expand its handling capacity from 116,000 TEUs to 160,000 TEUs and improve its logistics supply chain with digitalization plans to optimize logistics management. Inland barges will link PICT to other river terminals and seaports.
“Our investment in the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal reflects our belief that Bangladesh has the potential to become one of South Asia’s major gateways for regional and global trade,” says MSC CEO Soren Toft.
