The total capacity deployed by the MSC fleet has exceeded 7.2 million TEUs, further consolidating its position as world leader in the container shipping industry.
With a market share of 21.4%, the Geneva-based shipping line continues to dominate the top position among the leading shipping companies in cargo capacity terms.
Gianluigi Aponte’s group’s fleet is now close to reaching the 1,000-vessel mark, with 980 containerships currently in service.
MSC owns 727 of these with an overall capacity of 4.55 million TEUs. The remaining 253 vessels (2.65 million TEUs) have been chartered.
