New Spain-Uk rail freight service set up

by Port News Editorial Staff

A new rail service between Spain and England for transporting  reefer cargo. The new service was launched a few days ago by the shipping company Maersk, through its subsidiary Sealand.

The service will consist of three weekly departures from the Valencia terminal to those in Barking and East London. It will start at the end of October. The trains will also carry unrefrigerated goods on the return journey to Spain.

According to Maersk, its new rail service will reduce emissions by 90%, contributing significantly to solving Europe’s congestion problems and the age-old issue of driver shortages.
