The TSS Pearl, the 2000 TEU boxship that caught fire last week while sailing from Jeddah to Aden, has reportedly sunk in the Red Sea.
Numerous reports confirm this. According to the insurer WK Webster, the vessel sank about 300 km south of the port of Sudan. Quite a few containers have been lost at sea.
According to the first reconstructions, the fire reportedly broke out in one of the ship’s containers. Its 25 crew members have been all safely transported to the port of Jizan.
