On October 15th a serious fire at a shipyard in Batam, Indonesia left 13 dead and 18 injured.
The fire broke out at around 4:20 a.m. on board an oil tanker undergoing floating repairs alongside one of the shipyard’s jetties.
This is not the first time that an accident of this kind has occurred at the shipyard. On June 24th another fire killed four workers while they were on board a vessel under construction.
ASL Marine Holdings, the shipyard’s owner, expressed its heartfelt condolences for the victims and suspended all operations on board the vessel.
What exactly happened is yet to be clarified
