by Port News Editorial Staff

The GFS Pride, a 2,824 TEU containership, operated by Global Feeder Services, a company owned by AD Ports, sank in the Strait of Hormuz after being hit by a projectile.

According to security reports, it caused a fire on board, leaving the ship adrift before it sank.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore has announced that all 21 crew members have been safely evacuated and that no casualties have been reported. Subsequently, Pakistan Hydrographic Service issued a notice to mariners to warn of containers adrift in the area, stating that the vessel had sunk.

Yesterday, two further incidents occurred: the 4,350 TEU GFS Giselle and the 1,756 TEU Al Saadiyat, both sailing through the Strait, sustained minor damage to their hulls after being hit by projectiles.
