The Chinese state-owned Beibu Gulf Infrastructure Investment Group is set to invest $280 million in building an eco-friendly shipyard in Guigang, an inland port city in Guangxi.
The initiative is part of the Region’s plan to strengthen support for shipbuilding and offshore equipment manufacturing, with a focus on low-emission tonnage.
The project will be developed by its subsidiary, Guangxi Road and Bridge Engineering Group, and will be located in the Xijiang (Guiping) Ship Repair and Construction Industrial Park in Guigang.
The facility is designed to build up to 120 green ships a year, It will be capable of repairing approximately 300 vessels and dismantling another 100 annually.
