MSC has further boosted its orderbook by commissioning Hengli HI to build an additional twenty 24,000 TEU boxships. This brings the total number of mega-containerships ordered by the shipping company from the Dalian shipyard to 62.
This huge contract means the liner’s orderbook now totals 3.4 million TEUs.
Linerlytica points out that MSC’s orderbook now represents 46.5% of the global containership fleet, its highest since 2009, with a total capacity of 16.2 million TEUs.
