Agreement with Shanghai International Port Group

CMA CGM hoisting up the LNG flag

by Port News Editorial Staff

Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) will supply LNG to the next-generation dual-fuel ships  that CMA CGM will use on its Pearl River Express (PRX) service from China to Los Angeles.

The bunkering service is part of the framework agreement that the French company has signed with the Shanghai port operator as a result of the reorganization  of the local Port Authority.

Bunkering will be carried out at the port of Yangshan, south of Shanghai, with a newly built 20,000 cubic meter LNG bunker vessel.

There will be six 15,000 TEU ships that will benefit from SIPG’s services. They will be operational from the end of 2022; the first of these, the CMA CGM Patagonia, was already delivered last year by Jiangnan Shipyard.

The agreement will be  effective as of the end of the first quarter of 2022 and will last  ten years.
