Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation have signed an agreement for the design and construction of two new vessels for AIDA Cruises, the leading company in the German-speaking cruise market.
For the first time Fincantieri is to build cruise ships for AIDA Cruises, strengthening its strategic partnership with Carnival Corporation. One of the two vessels is set to be delivered in early 2030 and the other in late 2031. Each ship will have around 2,100 passenger cabins and will be equipped with multi-fuel engines, capable of running on LNG, biodiesel and next-generation eco-friendly fuels, in line with the industry’s decarbonization targets.
Over the years, Fincantieri has delivered a total of 75 cruise ships to Carnival Corporation, further strengthening the long-standing collaboration between the two companies.
“We are honoured that our long-standing partner Carnival Corporation has selected Fincantieri to build ships for AIDA Cruises for the first time in our history. This milestone confirms our ability to serve the entire Carnival Corporation portfolio, while ensuring long-term visibility for our shipyards,” commented Pierroberto Folgiero, Fincantieri’s CEO and Managing Director.
He said that the new vessels would incorporate the most advanced technology in terms of sustainability and efficiency, further strengthening the role of Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation as leaders in innovation in the cruise industry.
