Maersk, Hapag-Lloyd and MSC have announced another significant step towards Red Sea normalization
Following a careful assessment of the current security scenario in the region, the Gemini Alliance partners have decided to reroute services AE5/NE4, AE11/SE2 and ME2/IEX via the Suez route. They comprise two services linking Asia and the Mediterranean, one connecting Asia to Northern Europe, and another linking the Indian subcontinent to Europe. The change of route will take effect in the coming weeks.
MSC has also announced that it has returned its Indusa service (from the Indian subcontinent to the east coast of the United States) to the Suez route, but only in the westbound direction, from 23rd September.
“For the full month of September this now means the Red Sea normalization is 33% split on 22% headhaul and 42% backhaul.” says Lars Jensen, CEO of Vespucci Maritime.
