Italy, yacht-building world leader

According to the report presented by the Italian classification and certification society RINA at the Monaco Yacht show, 128 new, 40- to-180 metre yachts were sold in 2021, i.e. 78% more than in 2020.

Italy is the world leader in terms of the number of yachts built: 318. The top customers are US citizens, who own 22.6% of the world fleet. They are followed by Russia (8.7%), Greece (5.8%), Great Britain (5.6%), Italy (5.4%), Turkey (4.9%) and Germany (4.8%).

During the show, RINA also presented Maxima, a new range of services dedicated to superyachts, with a focus on cybersecurity providing protection against cyber-attacks, and sustainability with the certification of alternative fuel systems.
