by Port News Editorial Staff

MAERSK Tankers has taken over Penfield Marine, a US-based commercial tanker operator.

Tina Revsbech is to be Chief Executive Officer of the new company, while Tim Brennan, current Penfield Marine CEO, has been appointed as Chief Commercial Officer.

Maersk Tankers said that the services provided by Penfield Marine and Maersk Tankers will continue without any changes to their regional presence to ensure their  employees, pool partners and customers integrate perfectly.

Penfield Marine, based in Southport, Connecticut, was founded in 2012. It commercially operates and manages a total of 37 panamax/long-range tankers, 29 aframax/long-range tankers and 17 suezmax vessels.

The takeover of the US company brings the number of ships operated by Maersk Tankers to a total of 240, 45 of which are managed by affiliated companies.
