MSC to set up a logistics hub in Neom

by Port News Editorial Staff

MSC aims to set up, with Medlog, a logistics & shipping hub in the port of Neom, Saudi Arabia.

Neom, located on the Red Sea coast, is a strategic port for the Aponte-led group, being a centre for international trade between Asia, Europe, North America and Africa.

According to MSC Saudi, a state-of-the-art facility is to be built in Neom, in the Oxagon area, with fully automated cargo handling systems.

The new facility is part of a new smart city project that Saudi Arabia is developing in Neom, which includes the construction of a 26,500-square-kilometre logistics and trade zone that will house new port terminals, industrial facilities, green energy plants and a high-tech smart city called The Line.

Hisham Alansari, CEO of MSC Saudi said the venture represents a significant step towards Saudi Arabia becoming a global trading hub, and demonstrates MSC’s continued commitment to the Saudi market.
