OOCL has commissioned Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (DACKS) and Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS) with building a total of fourteen 18,500 TEU dual-fuel containerships running on methanol.
Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering is to build nine vessels and Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering will build the remaining five. The cost will be around $3.1 billion.
This latest mega operation means that the Chinese carrier now has 33 ships on order, with a total capacity of 611,000 TEUs.
