An initiative launched by the PNA with Elba's mooring service

Portoferraio gets new life-saving facility

by Port News Editorial Staff

The Port Network Authority (PNA), with the support of Elba island’s mooring service, has set up an automatic defibrillator at Portoferraio’s passenger terminal facility. It’s a fundamentally important life-saving device that can be used emergency scenarios.

As Stefano Bianco, PNA’s head of safety, pointed out, with this new equipment “the PNA intends to start a cardio protection process, which will continue throughout 2024 with additional AED devices being installed directly on our embarkation piers.”

In addition, confirming an ever-increasing sensitivity to travellers’ needs, Mr. Bianco pointed out that the passenger information displays, which are integrated into the totems located at the beginning of Portoferraio’s boarding piers, have been replaced and updated.

The Port Network Authority is  also pleased with the data,  as of  30th November, on the assistance requested and provided to users. In fact, following more incisive communication of the availability of the “Port-Able” service, assistance provided to personnel with reduced mobility has increased tenfold compared to the same period last year.
