Italian ports on show at Seatrade

by Port News Editorial Staff

Hamburg – The focus of the week still underway in Hamburg is on cruises. Seatrade Cruise Europe is back in full swing  after a break of several years.

The Italian ports are attending the event with a CruiseItaly stand organized by the Italian port association, Assoporti. Here, meetings and in-depth discussions are being held to  promote cruise traffic, in particular, ‘Made in Italy‘.

“Italian ports are in Hamburg to take part in the meetings and events organized by Seatrade, combining official conference participation with networking moments with sector stakeholders,” commented Assoporti President Rodolfo Giampieri.

“As I have already had the opportunity to say on a number of occasions, in Italy the cruise industry is steadily recovering, with a strong growth in traffic and key players showing a lot of interest. It is a segment that is expanding  thanks not only to the efficient services our ports provide, but, also, of course, because our country is very appealing to tourists, due to our cultural heritage and landscapes that are unique world-over. This is a systemic ‘Made in Italy’ promotion that is very important for us, in view of the considerable work shipping lines have done in terms of innovation and sustainability too. We believe, in fact, that ‘Destination Italy’ should be endorsed through taking part in these kinds of events, also to promote on-going sustainability initiatives,” Mr. Giampieri concluded.

A programme packed with institutional meetings and events by individual ports to present the Italian system to the thousands of visitors, as well as a series of business meetings for promoting local areas, for everyone  at the stand, as you can see from the photos.

The ‘Cruiseltaly’ stand  concept – one country, many destinations –  promoted by Assoporti communicating and presenting the coordinated Italian system, makes it possible to provide answers both in terms of port operations and what local areas offer tourists.
