by Port News Editorial Staff

The work to upgrade the four-track railway line located at the end of Via Leonardo da Vinci, between the Italian Finance Police headquarters and the road to the Galvani terminal gate, began a few days ago.

The aim of the €3.1 million project, with the first phase due to be completed by 30th  June, is to improve the efficiency of the railway terminal in order to handle trains over 550 metres long without having to split them up.

The work is financed by the AGRO-LI project focusing on improving and upgrading port infrastructure to facilitate access to the agri-food supply chain in the port of Livorno, The funding came from the Ministry of Agriculture’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) under the call for proposals to develop  agri-food logistics.
