Naval blockade in the Gulf

US forces board Iranian oil tanker

by Port News Editorial Staff

The United States is continuing to exert strong pressure through its naval blockade in the Persian Gulf. Just yesterday, US marines boarded the Celestial Sea, an Iranian-flagged tanker suspected of attempting to breach the restrictions to sail to Tehran.

Following a search, US forces ordered the crew to change course.

On the social media platform X, the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) confirmed the operation, reporting that the total number of commercial vessels intercepted so far has now risen to 91.

The Celestial Sea, had left Malaysia on  April 18th. On 20th May, when US forces boarded the vessel, it was off the coast of Ras Al Hadd, in Oman.
