DFDS doubles Trieste–Egypt service

by Port News Editorial Staff

Just two years after it was first introduced, the shipping link between Italy and Egypt is set to double its capacity. The Danish company DFDS has announced it’s upping its Ro-Ro service between the ports of Trieste and Damietta; a strategic route which, since its launch at the end of 2024, has consistently operated at full capacity.

“After extraordinary efforts from our teams and the support of loyal partners, ports, agents, and governments, we are ready to increase our capacity and rotation,” said Lars Hoffmann, Vice President of DFDS and Head of the Mediterranean Business Unit.

The need to introduce a second ferry stems from an immediate, sustained commercial success. In fact, traffic volumes are at full capacity in both directions, for both dry cargo and refrigerated goods.
