Maersk, no surcharge on new US levies

by Port News Editorial Staff

After CMA CGM and HMM, Maersk is the third shipping company to announce that it doesn’t intend to impose surcharges on shipments to North America with the application of US levies on Chinese-owned or Chinese-built vessels.

The carrier has reassured customers that it does not anticipate any changes to its US port rotations or current networks.

The liner also points out that Chinese exports are continuing to grow, despite current uncertainties. The total share of Chinese exports to continents other than North America has increased by 37%.
